Policy 02

Credit Policy

Effective date: August 2026 Last reviewed: August 2026

This Credit Policy explains the principles and procedures used by Boost Africa when receiving, assessing, approving, declining and administering credit applications.

The purpose of this policy is to promote responsible lending, consistent credit decisions, fair customer treatment and proper management of lending risk.

Boost Africa seeks to provide suitable credit without granting loans that may cause a customer to become over-indebted.

  • Credit must be granted only after reasonable assessment.
  • Customer information must be complete and accurate.
  • Income and financial obligations must be verified.
  • The proposed repayment must be affordable.
  • Credit decisions must be properly recorded.
  • Fees and repayment terms must be disclosed.
  • Unfair or discriminatory lending is prohibited.
  • Suspected fraud must be investigated.

Applicants may be required to provide:

  • A valid South African identity document.
  • A completed credit application.
  • Current residential and contact information.
  • Employment and employer information.
  • Recent payslips or proof of income.
  • Recent bank statements.
  • Verified banking details.
  • Consent for permitted verification checks.

Submission of an application does not guarantee approval or disbursement.

Boost Africa may verify the applicant's identity, banking details, contact details, employment information and submitted supporting documents.

An application may be suspended or declined where there are altered documents, material inconsistencies, identity concerns, misrepresentation or suspected fraudulent activity.

Boost Africa assesses whether an applicant can reasonably afford the proposed repayment while continuing to meet essential living expenses and existing financial obligations.

The assessment may consider:

  • Verified net salary or regular income.
  • Income stability and employment status.
  • Existing debit orders and credit obligations.
  • Recurring living and household expenses.
  • Bank-account conduct.
  • Unpaid or failed debit orders.
  • Existing credit bureau obligations.
  • The requested amount and repayment.

Bonuses, once-off transfers and temporary deposits may be excluded where they do not represent sustainable income.

Creditworthiness may be assessed using:

  • Credit bureau information.
  • Previous repayment behaviour.
  • Current arrears or adverse information.
  • Employment stability.
  • Banking behaviour.
  • Existing exposure to Boost Africa.
  • Internal lending limits and risk indicators.

An application may result in:

Approve

The requested amount is supported by the assessment.

Approve – Reduced

A lower amount may be offered based on affordability.

Decline

The application does not meet the required criteria.

Before the conclusion of a credit agreement, the customer must be informed of the approved amount, total repayment, fees, interest, repayment date and other material terms.

Charges will be applied in accordance with the signed agreement and applicable South African credit legislation.

Approved funds will generally be paid into a verified bank account belonging to the customer.

Customers must provide truthful information, review the agreement, maintain valid contact and banking details and make repayments on the agreed dates.

Applicants may request clarification or submit a complaint concerning the application process. A review does not guarantee that a declined application will be approved.

Credit-policy exceptions must be properly motivated, authorised and recorded.

i

Credit approval is not automatic. Every application is subject to affordability, verification, internal risk criteria and applicable legislation.

Policy 03

Collection Policy

Effective date: August 2026 Last reviewed: August 2026

This Collection Policy explains how Boost Africa manages missed payments, overdue accounts, payment arrangements, formal notices and lawful debt-recovery processes.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that overdue accounts are managed consistently, fairly, professionally and in accordance with applicable South African law.

The collection process seeks to recover outstanding amounts while giving customers a reasonable opportunity to communicate and make suitable repayment arrangements.

  • Customers must be treated with dignity.
  • Communication must be respectful and accurate.
  • Collection actions must be properly recorded.
  • Customer information must remain confidential.
  • Payment arrangements must be realistic.
  • Legal processes must be followed.
  • Payments must be allocated accurately.
  • Threats, intimidation and harassment are prohibited.

An account may be regarded as overdue when a scheduled repayment is not received in full by the agreed payment date.

Boost Africa may contact the customer to:

  • Confirm whether payment was made.
  • Establish the reason for non-payment.
  • Confirm contact and banking information.
  • Explain the outstanding balance.
  • Discuss a suitable payment arrangement.
  • Explain the consequences of continued default.

Early-stage collection may include payment reminders by telephone, SMS, WhatsApp, email or another approved communication channel.

Customers are encouraged to respond promptly and provide accurate information about their financial circumstances.

A customer experiencing temporary financial difficulty may request a payment arrangement. Boost Africa will consider the outstanding balance, payment history and proposed payment.

An arrangement should record:

  • The outstanding balance.
  • The agreed payment amount.
  • The payment date or instalment dates.
  • The payment method.
  • The consequences of failing to pay.

Payments may be collected through an authorised debit order, DebiCheck mandate, bank transfer or another agreed payment method.

Customers may request an account statement, settlement amount or information about payments received and amounts outstanding.

Where an account remains overdue, Boost Africa may issue formal notices permitted or required by law, including:

  • Arrears and payment-demand notices.
  • A Section 129(1)(a) notice where applicable.
  • A formal letter of demand.
  • A notice of intended attorney handover.

Where reasonable collection efforts do not resolve the arrears, the account may be handed to an authorised attorney or collection service provider.

Legal recovery may include:

  • Issuing a summons.
  • Applying for judgment.
  • Enforcing a lawful court order.
  • Recovering legally permitted costs.

Boost Africa does not use informal or unlawful debt-enforcement methods.

Employees and authorised collection providers must not:

  • Threaten violence, arrest or unlawful action.
  • Use abusive or humiliating language.
  • Misrepresent their identity or authority.
  • Unnecessarily disclose the debt to third parties.
  • Contact customers at unreasonable times.
  • Demand payment into personal bank accounts.
  • Threaten to seize property without legal authority.

Customers may request a settlement balance. Once an account has been fully settled and all payments have cleared, Boost Africa may issue a paid-up confirmation.

Account disputes or payment-allocation complaints should be submitted with supporting proof so that the matter can be investigated.
